Clonakilty is a typical West Cork market town with an industrial past and is the birthplace of beloved Irish patriot Michael Collins. In the 19th century it was a noted linen producer and a number of the quayside buildings have been lovingly restored. Today it is noted for its black puddings, handpainted Irish signs and traditional music pubs. A short walk from the town center is a model village depicting Clonakilty in the 1940s. Just east of the town is the reconstructed Lisnagun Ring Fort. A causeway links Clonakilty to the beautiful beach of Inchydoney with its Lodge and Spa.
